How women have grown to walk away from society’s standards.

Society has different standards for women than 20, 30, and even 10 years ago. Many people think we, as a society, have made leaps and bounds; but as women, we don’t always see it this way. People still feel anxious walking out the door, nervous that they will be judged for how they look or act. Some people even hide away their true personalities out of fear of judgment.

Taxi drivers could lose their job with Councils new rules

Drivers are in an uproar following new rules brought out, which could see taxi drivers being left unemployed.

Leeds City Council approved a new rule during a Council Executive Board meeting on Wednesday 21st September.

The rule says that taxi drivers who reach 9 points after committing minor motoring offences could lose their license following a Leeds City Council report.

Calderdale’s plan to become net zero

Calderdale Council have published a draft Climate Action Plan in the hopes to reach net zero by 2038.


Calderdale Council announced a climate emergency at the start of 2019 following the increase in damage to the planet. So far the council have managed to reduce CO2 emissions by 40% but the council aims to be net zero by 2038.

The plan holds six key themes overall each with different actions in the hopes to reach their goal.

A spokesperson from West Yorkshire Police and Leeds City Council believe one organisation shouldn’t be left to deal with resident anti-social behaviour concerns.

“We are putting longer-term solutions in place to target issues that arise around crime and anti-social behaviour and are committed to doing everything we can”.

Leeds City Council are also in close partnership with Safer Leeds, helping to address anti-social behaviour crimes.

I didn’t know what to expect walking to Headingly campus at five in the morning; it was a big job and I felt nervous with having the responsibility of being executive producer.


I’m used to the comforts of rainy England, Leeds Beckett PC’s and only having myself to rely on; so walking into 12 days with a media team, five cameras and laptops I was bound to be a bit apprehensive, but the trip worked out the way I would’ve hoped.

Zero Waste Leeds and Leeds City Council team up

Last year Zero Waste Leeds ran a winter coat appeal which saw the collection and distribution of 500 coats. This year they are doing a similar scheme but are aiming to collect 2,000 coats.

Tracy Morgan the project coordinator of Zero Waste Leeds said: “Leeds City Council contacted and said we would really like to do it again but we want about 2,000 coats and they knew they would have warm hubs across Leeds and thought what a great idea to have a rail of coats in these warm hubs”.

Foster Care shortages due to work commitments

Leeds City Council have brought in a scheme to boost foster care numbers. They are offering 9 paid annual leave days to council employees becoming foster carers. This is to allow time for foster care meetings, training, planning and to help the foster children get settled in.
